Home Made Toothpaste for Your Dog

Sunday...Funday I am sure you have heard that before. So what makes a Sunday a fun day? It can be whatever you want it to be. I decided to take my dog for a walk and when I got back I was going to experiment with homemade dog toothpaste. Fun!!

I found this recipe and altered it just a bit. Click here to view the recipe and instructions. Instead of the bouillon I used a concentrated chicken broth by Swanson. You can also add a drop of peppermint extract instead of the bouillon for a minty flavor. Here are the ingredients it calls for:

6 tablespoons baking soda
½ teaspoon salt

1 cube of beef bouillon (or vegetable for a vegan version)
1 teaspoon dried or fresh parsley
1 teaspoon water

I mixed it up with just a drop of water at a time as it can become very watery fast. Once I had the consistency just right I called Murphy over. I let him smell the container first and he sat perfectly still as I am sure he thought this was some sort of treat. A few brushes around and we are done until tomorrow!! Happy Brushing.

  1. Thank you for this post. If we, pet parents, would talk about something that stinks about our fur babies, the discussion will boil down into two things – doggy odor and doggy breath. There is no sugarcoating here that dogs do have a smelly breath by default. See more http://dogsaholic.com/care/homemade-dog-toothpaste.html
